Infrastructure Works on Hillington Frontage Site

Work has begun at Hillington Park, west of Glasgow, on a £4 million infrastructure project to service the strategic 9-hectares (22-acres) M8 frontage site adjacent to Junction 26.

MEPC, the majority landowner at what is Scotland’s largest business location, with more than 350 resident companies, has been planning this development for some years, and last month received Council approval to carry out the infrastructure works.

These preliminary works, to provide a new access road together with drainage, water, electricity, gas and telecom connections, will be completed by the end of this year. A planning application for a first phase of 6,700 square metres (66,000 sq ft) of office accommodation in two buildings has been submitted to Renfrewshire Council.

The site already has outline planning consent for a total of 38,000 square metres (375,000 sq ft) of office space. Architects Cooper Cromar have masterplanned the site to maximise its high-profile location and create a modern quasi-urban layout in a sustainably-landscaped environment.

Grant Edmondson, Managing Director of MEPC Hillington Park, said: “The Glasgow office market has been on a very successful run and the growing shortage of high-quality space means rents are rising - particularly so in the City Centre.

“We have a fantastic opportunity to provide high-quality, energy-efficient office buildings on one of the best remaining development sites between the city centre and Glasgow Airport, with outstanding transport links and local amenities already in place.

“These infrastructure works are a significant commitment by MEPC at Hillington Park, and we are hopeful that the necessary consents will soon be obtained to enable the first speculative phase of offices to start on site.”
